Treasure Hunting
Dig up rare loot — if you can handle what guards it.
What is Treasure Hunting?
Buried rewards scattered across the galaxy, guarded by creatures that do not want you finding them.
Treasure maps are found by foraging using the /forage skill in Scout. Each map contains an encoded location — examine it to reveal a planet and a rough coordinate area.
The catch: digging always triggers a guardian spawn. A group of hostile creatures or NPCs appears the moment you start extracting the treasure. You must defeat them before you can claim the chest contents.
Treasure hunting is one of SWG’s most underrated content systems. Veteran rewards can be found in treasure chests on Infinity. They are also a good way to gain credits.
Advanced Treasure Maps
For a tougher challenge.
Advanced Treasure Maps are looted from treasure chests discovered from regular treasure maps. They are red looted discs. Advanced treasure maps must be decoded using an Advanced Treasure Map Decoder before they can be read.
Advanced Treasure Map Decoders are crafted by WaWaatt politicians and require a looted schematic. Once decoded, the process of using an advanced treasure map is the same as regular ones. Beware — advanced treasure maps have guardians that are more difficult to defeat. Many of them will require a group to complete.
How to Use a Treasure Map
Read the Map
Use the radial menu on the Treasure Map and select Read to find out which planet the treasure is on.
Save the Waypoint
Travel to that planet. Open the radial menu on the map again and this time select Save Waypoint. This will place a waypoint marker for the treasure location.
Search the Area
Travel to the waypoint. Once you arrive, use the radial menu on the map and select Search Area. This will narrow down the exact spot.
Extract the Treasure
Move to the new area indicated and select Extract Treasure. Be warned — there are guardians protecting each treasure. You will need to defeat them before the treasure chest appears.
What Can You Get?
Credits
Every chest contains credits. Consistent credit income from regular treasure hunting adds up significantly over time.
Veteran Rewards and Rare Schematics
Some chests contain veteran rewards and rare schematics that are difficult to find elsewhere. Veteran rewards such as special edition goggles can be found in treasure chests. There is also a chance at rare schematics, some of which are only found in treasure chests such as the Barn House Schematic.
Decoration Items
Player housing decorations and unique display items appear in treasure chests. Collectors and interior designers actively seek these out.
Bonus Maps
Occasionally a chest contains an additional treasure map. These can be regular treasure maps or the red encoded discs of advanced treasure maps.
Miscellaneous Loot
Stims, survey tools, and other useful consumables round out the chest loot tables. Nothing goes to waste.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, some maps can be completed solo but some are harder than others. Advanced treasure maps in particular may require a group.
No. Treasure maps do not expire and will sit in your inventory indefinitely until used. There is no time pressure on when you use a map after looting it. That said, do not let valuable maps pile up unactioned — either use them, group up for the harder ones, or sell them on the bazaar to put them to work for someone else.
