Why Join a Guild?

Guilds are the single most impactful decision you will make in Star Wars Galaxies.

Star Wars Galaxies is fundamentally a social game. The systems that make SWG unique — player cities, crafting networks, dungeon runs, faction warfare — all work best within an organised guild structure. A guild is not just a chat channel; it is a resource network, a group of people to play with, and often the foundation of a player-owned city.

Solo players can get far in SWG, but solo players who find the right guild get further, faster, and have more fun doing it. A guild with dedicated crafters means access to gear you cannot buy on the bazaar. A guild with coordinated PvP means structured, rewarding faction warfare. A guild with a city means bonuses, services, and a home base.

If there is one piece of advice for new players: find a guild within your first week. Everything else is easier from inside one.

Types of Guilds

Different guilds suit different playstyles. Know what you are looking for.

PvP / GCW Guilds

Combat-focused guilds built around the Galactic Civil War. They run organised faction operations, coordinate overt PvP engagements, defend and assault player bases, and compete for planetary control. If you want structured, high-stakes PvP, this is your home.

Crafting Guilds

Resource networks and production guilds. Dedicated harvesters, Armorsmiths, Weaponsmiths, Architects, Shipwrights, and other crafters working in coordinated supply chains. The gear these guilds produce outclasses anything available on the open market.

Dungeon Guilds

Organised groups focused on clearing The Warren, Death Watch Bunker, GEO Bio Lab, and other group PvE content. Regular scheduled runs, assigned roles, and shared loot strategies. Best access to top-tier gear in the game.

Casual & Social Guilds

Community-first guilds for players who want company without obligation. Roleplay, events, housing projects, exploration, and general socialising. No required playtime, no pressure. The most welcoming entry point for new players.

Finding a Guild

Three reliable ways to find a guild that matches your playstyle.

1

Ask in /spatial

Use the /spatial chat command in any populated city and ask if any guilds are recruiting. This is how SWG has always worked — organic word of mouth. Players in active cities are often guild members who can point you in the right direction or even invite you on the spot.

2

Post in Discord #guild-recruitment

Our Discord has a dedicated guild recruitment channel where guilds post their listings and players post “looking for guild” requests. Describe your playstyle, your profession, and what you are looking for — most active guilds check this channel regularly.

3

Ask in /Infinity

The fastest way to find a guild is to ask directly in the /Infinity in-game chat channel. Guild leaders and recruiters are active there and can point you in the right direction or invite you on the spot.

What Guilds Offer

Guild Chat

A dedicated chat channel visible only to guild members. The primary coordination tool for organising runs, asking for crafting help, and general guild banter.

Shared City Membership

Most serious guilds own a player city. Guild membership often includes citizenship, giving you access to city services, shuttleport travel, and the city’s bonuses.

Structured Ranks

Most guilds use a rank hierarchy: Leader, Officer, and Member. Officers help manage recruitment, organise events, and coordinate operations. Progression within a guild often mirrors your engagement and contribution.

Crafting Access

Guild crafters often make gear for members at cost or for free. This alone is worth guild membership for combat characters who want the best available equipment without paying full bazaar prices.

Ready-Made Groups

Dungeons, theme parks, and GCW operations require groups. Being in a guild means you always have people to call on rather than trying to organise pickup groups in /spatial.

Live Guild Directory

A live guild directory with member counts, descriptions, recruitment status, and contact information is being built via our Core3 API integration. For now, the fastest way to find active guilds, post a recruitment listing, or browse what’s available is our Discord community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Buy a guild hall and place it down anywhere building is allowed. Use the guild terminal to create your guild. You choose a guild name (abbreviated tag), designate yourself as the leader, and then begin inviting members. Starting with a small but committed group is more effective than mass-recruiting casually — a small tight-knit guild outperforms a large disorganized one in every area of the game.

No. Each character can only belong to one guild at a time. If you want to switch guilds, you must leave your current guild first. Alts (alternate characters on your account) can each be in different guilds independently.

A guild hall is a large player-placed structure built by an Architect and placed in a player city or out in the wild. It serves as the guild’s official headquarters — it can display guild information, store decoration items, and act as a social gathering point. A well-decorated guild hall in a prominent city location is both a statement of the guild’s presence and a practical meeting point for members. Membership management such as sponsoring characters for guild membership can be done at any guild hall that is owned by a member of the guild.
